Street food under the roof

This last Saturday the best restaurant in town has held an open kitchen event. They've moved their kitchen outside and their offer consisted of rice noodles from a wok, different burgers, ribs and some sweets. The food they prepared was more or less produced locally, from flour for the buns from a local mill, to the herbs grown in local greenhouse. At first, the weather threatened, but the organisers took all the necessary precaution measures and people didn't mind a few drops now and then. The event was presented by a Slovene stand-up comedian Klemen Bučan who's done a great job of entertaining people from the early afternoon 'till late at night. The peak of the event was the chilli burger challenge. Five contestants applied for the challenge and what they had to do was eat three burgers seasoned with chilli peppers. The first burger was the least hot, the second was pretty hot and the last one was exxxxxtremely hot. Only three contestants managed to the third burger with two of them quitting after a couple of bites. The winner has received a nice prize as have all the participants. It was an interesting event, well attended and I hope we are going to see more of that in the future.
